The PSNI have issued an appeal for information to a "vicious" sectarian attack in Derry that left a 29 year-old Catholic man fighting for his life.
Last Sunday's attack took place in the Chapel Road area of the Waterside at around 3.40am.
Following a barbecue in a house three men were set upon by up to eight others leaving one man in a critical condition in hospital. The two others who were with him suffered wounds that are not believed to be life threatening.
Detectives at Waterside are appealing for witnesses to the attack, or anyone who was in the Irish St area of the city at the time, to come forward.
