Prison detox unit row resolved

A dispute over the new detoxification unit for drug abusers at Mountjoy Prison has been resolved

A dispute over the new detoxification unit for drug abusers at Mountjoy Prison has been resolved. The Prison Officers' Association has agreed with the Department of Justice that the unit can operate for a three month trial.

During these three months, prison officers who are qualified as nurses have agreed to work with temporary nurses hired to help run the unit. At the end of the three months both sides will meet to review the situation.
