PRESIDENTIAL APPEAL: PRESIDENT MARY McAleese has urged people to vote in next week's referendum on the Lisbon Treaty.

PRESIDENTIAL APPEAL:PRESIDENT MARY McAleese has urged people to vote in next week's referendum on the Lisbon Treaty.

Speaking during a two-day visit to Liverpool, Mrs McAleese said it was important that people made use of the available information before making their decision on the treaty next Thursday.

"While it's not for me to offer advice to anybody on either side on the treaty, that would be entirely inappropriate, the one thing I would say is please do read absolutely everything.

"There is fantastic information out there, from the Referendum Commission in particular.

"Listen to it, read it, read it very carefully, and then do go out and vote," she said.
