WASHINGTON - The US Supreme Court yesterday temporarily halted the execution of a convicted murderer, Joseph O'Dell, after Pope John Paul had sought clemency for him. O'Dell, sentenced to death in 1986 for murder, was due to die today in the Greensville Correctional Centre in Jarratt, Virginia.
