Divers have been unable to begin their search for the wreck of a sunken fishing boat off the coast of Co Wexford today because of bad weather.

The Maggie Bsank off the south-east coast in March two months ago with the loss of two lives.

A team of 13 Irish navy divers were brought to the search area some five miles south of Hook Head yesterday by the Irish Lights vessel Granuaile.

Naval Service spokesman Commander Tom Doyle said the wreck was located this morning by a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) but that poor weather meant visibility was at a maximum of two feet.

During a second search of the stern and the port side of the vessel by the ROV this morning, a large amount of fishing wire and rope was discovered.

A further search of the wreck and the surrounding area will be made by ROV before any dive is attempted.

The search was ordered by Minister of State for Transport Pat "the Cope" Gallagher after he met the family of missing skipper Glynn Cott (30) of Ballycotton, Co Cork, in Dublin last week.

Mr Cott and Polish crewman Jan Sankowski have not been seen since the March 29th sinking, which occurred in 90 seconds, according to sole survivor Krzysztof Pawtowski, also from Poland.
