NONE of the 16 requests for parole from subversive prisoners made since the ending of the IRA ceasefire in February had been granted. In a written reply to Mr Noel Dempsey (FF, Meath), the Minister for Justice, Mrs Owen, said full restoration of the parole arrangements which existed immediately before the resumption of violence on February 9th would be considered in the event of the ceasefire being restored. Meanwhile, each request would be considered on its merits.
