Two PSNI officers suffered minor injuries last night during disturbances in Belfast.

Two PSNI officers suffered minor injuries last night during disturbances in Belfast.

They were responding to reports that a number of youths were stoning passing cars and lorries on a motorway link running through the city.

The stone-throwing began during the rush hour at around 5pm in the Westlink area.

When the police arrived, they were attacked and were forced out of the area for a short time. Order was restored with the help of local community representatives.

A number of vehicles were damaged.
