Police in south Armagh seized €290,000 worth of counterfeit goods over the weekend, it today emerged.

Police in south Armagh seized €290,000 worth of counterfeit goods over the weekend, it today emerged.

Pirate copies of CDs, DVDs and videos were among the haul, discovered after two vans were searched in the market town of Jonesborough on Saturday afternoon. No arrests were made.

A PSNI spokeswoman said that officers also found printing and copying equipment, along with generators and other electrical goods in the vehicles. Fireworks were also discovered in the van.

The town has a large open-air market which takes place every Sunday.
