Petrol bomb-throwing and skirmishing broke out in Portadown this evening after an junior Orange Lodge march through the town.

Petrol bomb-throwing and skirmishing broke out in Portadown this evening after an junior Orange Lodge march through the town.

A number of petrol bombs were thrown by nationalist protesters and Police, who described the rioting as "relatively minor", fired two baton rounds.

The march passed by the bottom of the flashpoint Garvaghy Road where around 200 protesters had gathered.

After the 25-strong pipe band passed, bottles and missiles were thrown at police lines. There are no reports of injuries and one arrest was made.

Meanwhile, in Dungannon Co Tyrone, a girls’ school was damaged after an arson attack this evening.
