Gardai yesterday called off their search of a Co Wicklow pet cemetery for the remains of the missing American student, Annie McCarrick, writes Jim Cusack, Security Correspondent.
The search was started as a result of a review of statements from people in the area at the time Ms McCarrick disappeared in March 1993.
One report gave information about men transporting a wooden box in the area at the time.
It is understood that a man who had buried a greyhound in the cemetery about the time of the disappearance came forward yesterday. At about the same time yesterday, officers digging at the cemetery, in a field above the village of Enniskerry, found the box containing the remains of the greyhound. The dig was called off at lunchtime.
