FORMER Philippines first lady Imelda Marcos asked the Manila Supreme Court yesterday to revoke an $887 million (£590 million) tax judgment against her family, saying the state had seized all their possessions and there was nothing left to tax.
The widow of late president Ferdinand Marcos personally went to the court to file her appeal against its ruling on June 5th, which upheld a lower court's order to seize and sell 11 plots of family land to cover unpaid estate taxes.
"They (the government) took even our ancestral homes. All our personal belongings were taken away from us. . .There is nothing left. What is there to tax?" she said.
