Actor Woody Harrelson assaulted two photographers and unlawfully removed film from one of their cameras, a judge ruled yesterday. The star of TV's Cheers and films including Natural Born Killers said he was trying to protect the privacy of his two-year-old daughter and his wife when he scuffled at the Martha's Vineyard Airport with Star magazine photographer Steven Connolly and freelance video cameraman Paul Adao.

A Finnish porn star and former Mr Finland says he had a torrid love affair with Spice Girl Mel B. In an interview with the tabloid Iltalehti yesterday, Henry Saari said the two spent a night together in a suite at Madrid's Ritz Hotel after a Spice Girls concert last March. A second "night of passionate love" took place, according to Iltalehti, at the end of May in Helsinki.

Best-selling author Ralph Hammond Innes has died at the age of 84 at his home in Suffolk last Wednesday. Hammond Innes's love of travel inspired many of his 35 best-selling adventure novels, including Wreck of the Mary Deare, which later became a film starring Charlton Heston, Gary Cooper and Michael Redgrave.

Veteran Hollywood actor Buddy Ebsen (90), has undergone heart surgery to replace his aortic valve. His wife said he'll be taking time "to rest and recuperate". Ebsen is best known for his work in television's The Beverly Hillbillies and Barnaby Jones.
