Pedestrian dies in road collision

A pedestrian was killed in a road collision in Co Wicklow early this morning.

A pedestrian was killed in a road collision in Co Wicklow early this morning.

The man, 54, was hit by a car on the N11 at Scratnagh, close to Arklow, at about 3.25am.

He was later named as Oliver O'Toole from Shankill in Dublin.

Gardai from Arklow are investigating the cause of the crash.

The man's death brings the number of road fatalities so far this year to 365.
