A CAMPAIGN to repeal the Residential Property Tax (RPT) has been launched by the Progressive Democrats finance spokesman, Mr Michael McDowell.

He will table an amendment to this year's Finance Bill to abolish the tax and it is likely to be supported by Fianna Fail, writes Joe Carroll, Parliamentary Correspondent.

Mr McDowell said he was confident that this would lead to a "public mandate for its abolition in the next Dail, whoever is in government".

A "Repeal RPT" campaign leaflet will be distributed by the Progressive Democrats to every affected home in the coming weeks.
