An aircraft flying from Malaga to Dublin was forced to divert to Madrid yesterday after an Irish passenger became violent, writes Jane Walker in Madrid. He threatened the safety of crew and other passengers, mostly Irish holidaymakers.

The pilot radioed to the control tower at Barajas Airport, where Civil Guards met the aircraft. They removed and arrested the disruptive passenger, who is believed to have been drinking. He is expected to appear before a magistrate later today.
