Parade changes anger marchers

Orangemen have reacted angrily to restrictions placed on a contentious parade in west Belfast.

The annual Whiterock parade, due on Saturday, passes through mainly loyalist areas, but nationalists are opposed to it passing a peaceline interface which would take marchers into a Catholic area on the Springfield Road. In a ruling on Monday the Parades Commission rerouted the parade away from its traditional route past a peaceline interface.

The Orange Order's Belfast County Grand Master, Mr Dawson Bailie, described the commission's reasons as "an excuse".
