A Laois man who sexually abused a boy and a girl has been jailed for 10 years. At the Central Criminal Court, Mr Justice Flood said the offences had been "savage and sadistic", leaving the families of both victims shattered. The girl's parents had treated the abuser as one of the family and he had lived in their home. The man (26), who is married, pleaded guilty to two specimen charges of rape and sexual assault of the now 16-year-old boy in the early 1990s. He also admitted three specimen charges of having unlawful carnal knowledge of the girl, now 12, from November 1989 to 1992, when she was aged between five and eight.
