An opinion poll published today shows almost one-third of the electorate are still undecided on their voting intentions in the Nice treaty referendum.

The poll, conducted by Lansdowne Market Research for the Starnewspaper, shows Yes voters at 39 per cent, No at 22 per cent, with 31 per cent undecided and seven per cent saying they will not be voting.

A large majority of the undecided said they were in favour of EU enlargement.

A majority 55 per cent of Fianna Fáil supporters backed the treaty, with 12 per cent against, in contrast with Labour at 35 per cent Yes and 30 per cent No, and the Greens at 16 per cent Yes and 31 per cent No.

The poll was conducted at the weekend among 1,100 people in 100 locations around the country.
