Sonia O'Sullivan has given birth to her second child. Sophie was born early yesterday morning local Melbourne time.
Within eight hours of giving birth, O'Sullivan was walking around the Masada Hospital in Melbourne, which is a couple of miles from the home of the athlete and her partner, Mr Nick Bideau.
O'Sullivan hopes to return to competitive running at the World Cross Country in Dublin next March.
"Sonia and the baby are in fantastic form," Mr Bideau said yesterday, "and I'm delighted to say that they're both doing very well."
