Aidan O'Mahony's hearing with the anti-doping committee will reconvene in January after it was adjourned with no conclusion in the early hours of this morning. O'Mahony, a registered asthmatic, tested positive for the banned substance salbutamol after the All-Ireland final on September 21st and had his first chance to explain himself last night.

The three-time Al-Ireland medallist was initially suspended by the GAA but the sanction was lifted in a direct indication the Kerry footballer will escape punishment.

The levels of salbutamol in O'Mahony's system have yet to be revealed but it is known that the Cork-based garda uses the drug as a method of treatment through an inhaler.
