O’Connor kept Mayo in contention by knocking over three points and they took some momentum into the break after Kevin McLaughlin pointed in injury time just before Shine missed a free.

Playing with the strong wind on the resumption, Mayo dominated proceedings and drew level just short of the hour mark when O’Connor hit his sixth point of the game.
