One of the top Salvation Army bands in the world is paying its first visit to Ireland this week, writes PATSY MCGARRY. The Salvation Army New York Staff Band conducted a master class with the Drogheda Brass Band last night and will be hosted at Áras an Uachtaráin today. Tonight, it will perform at Dublin's Mansion House with the Garda Male Voice Choir.

The band is on its way to London for an international brass weekend celebrating the 120th anniversary of the London-based International Staff Band of the Salvation Army.
