A beach in Strangford Lough, Co Down, has been listed as one of the dirtiest ink the United Kingdom. The beach, at the northern tip of the lough outside Newtownards, rated 11th in the list of dirty" beaches, according to a Readers Digest snapshot survey.
However, beaches at Waterfoot and Carnlough, along the Antrim coast, were among the cleanest. Sixteen beaches were checked in the North and an average of 1.17 items were picked up per metre of beach - below the survey -"average of 1.48.
