Increased demand for enterprise and wireless products has boosted Nortel Networks' latest results to almost triple its profit.
The technology firm posted net earnings for the period of $45 million, compared with $16 million a year earlier.
The latest results translate into $0.01 per common share on a diluted basis, and represent brightening fortunes for the company that posted a net loss of $49 million in first quarter of 2005.
Nortel's latest figures included restructuring charges of $90 million and $39 million of costs related to the sale of businesses and assets.
Revenues for the second quarter reached $2.86 billion, a 10 per cent increase on figures of $2.59 billion for the same period last year. It is also an increase on the $2.54 billion Nortel reported in its first quarter results earlier this year.
