Coventry boss Roland Nilsson has urged Republic of Ireland defender Gary Breen to take part in the talks over his new contract with the English first division side.

Discussions have taken place between chairman Bryan Richardson and Breen's agent, but Nilsson thinks negotiations should now include the player.

The 27-year-old is sidelined with a knee injury and Nilsson believes it is an ideal opportunity to discuss his future.

He said: "When I last spoke to Gary about this he said his agent was taking care of everything and he was concentrating on playing football.

"But we are at the stage now where we need to get Gary into the discussions as well. He is injured at the moment so this is the best time for us to sit down and really discuss things so we all know what is going to happen".
