Ljubljana - Slovenia's parliament yesterday narrowly elected Mr Andrej Bajuk, a conservative, as Prime Minister to replace Mr Janez Drnovsek six months ahead of scheduled elections.
Mr Drnovsek's centre-left government lost a vote of confidence four weeks ago after the conservative People's Party decided to quit the coalition to join the opposition. Mr Drnovsek had been Slovenia's Prime Minister for the last eight years. Mr Bajuk (56), an economist, was elected by 46 votes to 44.
