Police in Northern Ireland have launched a murder inquiry after a man was found dead in flats in the south of Belfast.

A PSNI spokesman said it was believed the murder was carried out shortly before 8.30pm on Friday at Hartington Court on the Dublin Road.

The dead man was last night named as 59-year-old Daniel Whyte, who was originally from Bangor, Co Down.

Police are continuing to question a 34-year-old man in connection with the incident and detectives have repeated appeals for information.
