An inspired performance by Ross Munnelly saw Laois overcome Meath by 2-13 to 0-13 in the third round of the SFC qualifiers at Pairc Ui Tailteann in Navan.

Munnelly's personal haul of 2-04 was the single-dominant factor in the outcome of this free-flowing fixture. Laois held a 0-10 to 0-06 advantage at the interval before forging further ahead in the second period.

At Markievicz Park Westmeath were locked in a nerve-jangling encounter with Sligo before Gary Dolan's extra-time goal secured the one-point victory 1-12 to 0-14 in the 90-minute thriller.

Sligo had led 0-06 to 0-04 at the break but the game required extra-time before Westmeath prevailed. Sligo also had three players sent-off Eamonn O'Hara, Padraig Doohan and Brendan Egan all walked for separate incidents in extra-time. Westmeath's Donal O'Donoghue was also dismissed.

Longford got the better of Derry in the qualifier at Pearse Park as they won 1-16 to 2-12.  Paul Barden scored an injury-time free from 45metres to ensure the midland side won by the narrowest of margins.

Elsewhere Fermanagh beat Wexford 2-12 to 0-11 in Enniskillen.
