A motorcyclist (31) has died following a road traffic collision in Cork yesterday.

A motorcyclist (31) has died following a road traffic collision in Cork yesterday.

Gardaí at Bandon are appealing for witnesses to the crash at Gurranes, Innishannon, Co Cork, at 8.30pm.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene after his motorcycle and a car collided. The driver of the car was taken to Cork University Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.

The road remains closed to traffic pending a technical examination,and diversions are in place.

Gardaí said 89 people have been killed so far this year on Irish roads, including eight motorcyclists.
