Oxford - The Rev Dr Donald English, chairman of the World Methodist Council, died yesterday, aged 68, the Methodist Church said.

He was chairman of the North Carolina-based World Methodist Council and the only Methodist minister in living memory to have been twice president of the Methodist Conference.

Dr English died in hospital in Oxford, England, after a short illness, a church spokeswoman said.
