Attention may now be fully focused on the championship but the GPA took a little time out to reflect on the latter stages of the leagues when announcing their players-of-the-month for April.

Tipperary midfielder Shane McGrath picked up the hurling award while another midfielder, Westmeath's Martin Flanagan, was the football nomination.

McGrath, also the recipient of monthly All-Star gong, helped the Premier County to a first league success in seven years, Liam Sheedy's side beating Galway in the final.

Flanagan, who has already been in Leinster championship during last weekend's win in Longford, was a key man in Westmeath's Division Two success.
