RACING:Tony McCoy's long wait to break the 3,000 winners mark looks set to end tomorrow with solid claims for all four of his rides at Kempton.
The 13-times British champion jockey has been left tantalisingly close on 2,998 winners since last Thursday, with the inclement weather decimating the National Hunt fixture list this week.
He had four chances at Bangor this afternoon but trainer Jonjo O’Neill withdrew three of those runners due to travel problems.
His other intended mount, Picture In The Sky, was later announced as a jockey change leaving McCoy with a blank day.
His first ride at Kempton is aboard Abutilon in the williamhill.com — Play Bingo Novices’ Handicap Hurdle, with the gelding trained by Brendan Powell and owned by McCoy’s boss JP McManus.
If he were to be successful, McCoy would then get the leg up on Albertas Run in the Levy Board Chase with a real chance of both reaching the milestone and beating Gold Cup hero Denman in the process.
He then rides That’s An Idea in the Calvert Carpets Handicap Chase before the day concludes with Quipe Me Posted in the williamhill.com — Play Casino Maiden Open National Hunt Flat Race.
