Gary McAllister has resigned as Coventry player-manager because of ongoing family problems.

Gary McAllister has resigned as Coventry player-manager because of ongoing family problems.

The Scot asked to be released from his managerial duties last month in order to spend time with his wife, who is seriously ill, and has now taken the decision to stand down permanently.

Eric Black, who took charge of first-team affairs in McAllister's absence, will continue as caretaker manager.
