The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) has been notified following the death of a Wexford man in a farm incident late on Monday night.

John Sweetman (48), of Boolabawn, Glynn, was fatally injured when a sick cow he was tending fell on top of him in a trench on his farm. He was pronounced dead at the scene at about 10.45pm.

Mr Sweetman is survived by his wife Eleanor and his four children, three of whom are attending primary school.

A Garda spokesman said the HSA and the Irish Farmers’ Association were notified following the incident.
