Gardai in Sligo were yesterday questioning a man in connection with a hit-and-run accident in the town in the early hours of last Monday.
A Garda sergeant who was operating a routine checkpoint in the town in the company of another garda was knocked down by a motorcyclist whom he attempted to stop.
The sergeant was treated at Sligo General Hospital and later discharged. The motorcyclist left the scene at high speed.
