Man pleads guilty to possessing child pornography on computer

A Co Galway man has pleaded guilty to the possession of explicit child pornography on his computer.

A Co Galway man has pleaded guilty to the possession of explicit child pornography on his computer.

Noel Murphy (48) of Seehaun, Ballysheedy, Gort, pleaded guilty yesterday before Galway Circuit Criminal Court to the possession at his home of pornographic images of children engaged in explicit sexual activity on March 25th, 2010, contrary to section five of the Child Trafficking and Pornography Act 1998.

Bernard Madden SC, defending, asked for sentencing to be adjourned to next May for the preparation of reports on his client.

Judge Raymond Groarke adjourned sentencing to May 2nd next before placing the accused on the sex offenders register.
