A man has pleaded guilty to the murder of his 17-year-old fiancé in Co Derry in 2007.

A man has pleaded guilty to the murder of his 17-year-old fiancé in Co Derry in 2007.

Terry Phillip Whiting (31), who is originally from England but has an address at Robertson Crescent in Limavady, was charged with murdering Wendy McAteer on Wednesday, November 21st, 2007. The couple shared a house.

Ms McAteer's body was found in a laneway at Blackburn Path in Limavady, hear St Mary's High School, where she had been a pupil.

She had sustained serious head injuries.

Whiting pleaded guilty to the murder on the first day of his trial today in Derry. The case has been adjourned for sentencing in April.
