Gardaí are investigating a stabbing in Sligo town last night.

A 34-year-old man sustained an injury to his neck in the incident which happened at about 8pm at a house on McNeill Drive, Cranmore.

The injured man was taken to Sligo General Hospital where his injuries are described as 'not life-threatening'.

A 25-year-old man was arrested by gardaí under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act. He was released at 9am today and a file has been sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
