A man was recovering in hospital last night following an incident at the Mr Binman facility in Co Limerick, .
The 39-year-old worker, a native of Latvia, suffered a serious injury to his leg after he became trapped in a conveyor belt at the company’s facility in Luddenmore, Grange, Co Limerick.
Gardaí, ambulance and fire service personnel attended at the scene after the alarm was raised at 2.20pm.
The man was freed at about 4pm and taken to the Mid Western Regional Hospital in Limerick. It is understood he remained conscious throughout his ordeal.

A section of the waste facility remained closed yesterday and the area was sealed off for examination.
