A Bulgarian national has been found guilty by a jury at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court of stabbing a Ukrainian national near the city centre in 1999.

Stoian Sandev, (36), a driver, with an address on North Circular Road, Dublin, was remanded in custody for sentence on Wednesday next by Judge Patrick McCartan.

Sandev pleaded not guilty to assault causing harm to Vitalik Eubrienk at Seville Place on November 27th, 1999. Mr Eubrienk claimed Sandev drove up in his car, jumped out and attacked him waving a knife. He said he defended himself by punching Mr Sandev and kicking the knife out of his hand.
