A man facing charges of making a hoax bomb threat at Dublin airport has been sent for trial at the Circuit Court.

A man facing charges of making a hoax bomb threat at Dublin airport has been sent for trial at the Circuit Court.

John McHugh (48), unemployed, from Mountjoy Square, Dublin, was charged with knowingly making a false statement or report tending to give rise to an apprehension for the safety of persons or property at the airport on July 4th.

Dublin District Court heard today the airport had to be shut down for two hours while security checks were carried out.

Judge James Scally remanded Mr McHugh on continuing independent bail of €1,000 to appear again on November 24th.

As part of his bail conditions, he is to stay away from Dublin and Shannon airports.
