Man for court over Belfast robbery bid

A man will appear in court today charged with attempting to rob a west Belfast bar at gunpoint.

A man will appear in court today charged with attempting to rob a west Belfast bar at gunpoint.

A man with a hand gun went into the Glenowen Inn, Andersonstown, on Sunday night and demanded the contents of the till.

But customers and staff in the Glen Road bar grappled with him, took away the gun and threw him out of the premises.

The man (44) is due to appear at Belfast Magistrates' Court today.
