A man is due before Limerick District Court later today to face charges linked to the killing of Mr Anthony O'Donoghue earlier this month.

The Garda launched a murder inquiry after the death of Mr O'Donoghue (26) who died on March 5th due to head injuries, two weeks after being assaulted.

Mr O'Donoghue was found lying unconscious outside Cherryvale Apartments in Limerick City on 19th February. A post-mortem revealed he had head injuries due to being assaulted.

Four people were arrested yesterday as part of the murder investigation. Three were later released and the fourth is due in court today. It is believed he will face manslaughter charges.

In a separate incident, state pathologist Dr John Harbison is due to carry out a postmortem on a man who died yesterday three months after being admitted to hospital with suspected head injuries. The man was in his fifties and his name has not been released.

The Limerick Garda launched the inquiry into the circumstances of the man’s death after he was found unconscious near John Carew Park in the South Hill area of the city on December 7th.
