Man dies in hospital after Dublin stabbing

A 24-year-old man has died after being stabbed in north Dublin early this morning.

A 24-year-old man has died after being stabbed in north Dublin early this morning.

Gardaí said the man was attacked at a house in Oak Avenue, Santry shortly after midnight.

The man, who has not been named but is understood to be a Lithuanian national, was taken to Beaumont Hospital for treatment to a wound to his chest but later died.

A man was subsequently arrested and taken to Whitehall Garda Station for questioning under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

The scene at Oak Avenue has been sealed off pending an examination by the Garda Technical Bureau.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to contact them.
