A man has died following a shooting in Cork city this evening.
The 42-year-old man was targetted in what gardaí believe may be a drugs related attack.
The shooting happened at around 8.30pm as the man went to get into his car outside his rented house West Lawn on Sarsfield Road in Wilton.
It is understood he was shot by a lone gunman.

The man was shot at least once in the chest by a man with a shotgun who then fled in a waiting van which sped off along Sarsfield Road on Cork’s southside .
The man was rushed by ambulance to nearby Cork University Hospital but it’s understood that he died a short time afterwards of his injuries.
