Man critical after Dublin attack

A man (31) is in a critical condition in hospital tonight after a knife attack on Dublin's Parnell Street today.

A man (31) is in a critical condition in hospital tonight after a knife attack on Dublin's Parnell Street today.

It is understood the man was stabbed in the neck before he was rushed to the Mater Hospital.

Gardaí at Fitzgibbon Street are investigating the assault, that happened at around 3.45pm.

Detectives have appealed to the public to help track down the attacker who fled in the direction of Marlboro Street and Summerhill.

He is described as being in his late 20’s and had a very tight haircut. He had a pale complexion, was clean shaven, and is believed to be approximately 6ft to 6ft 2“ in height. He was wearing a light coloured top and white or beige coloured knee-length shorts.

A garda spokesman said a portion of the road was closed for a time but has since reopened. “The scene on the footpath continues to be preserved,” he added.
