A man was convicted yesterday of raping a woman in a Dublin park in 1996. A jury at the Central Criminal Court found the 39-year-old man guilty of five charges after a four-day trial. The man, who cannot be named to protect the victim, was found guilty of false imprisonment, rape, anal rape, aggravated sexual assault and assaulting the 39-year-old woman, occasioning her actual bodily harm, on the night of July 15th-16th, 1996. The jury cleared him of a charge of orally raping her. He will be sentenced on December 2nd.
