A 28-year-old man has been sent forward for trial to the Central Criminal Court, charged with the murder of a fellow Polish national in Tralee, Co Kerry.

Michal Kurowski of Old Gallows Field, Tralee, an unmarried factory worker, had previously been charged with serious assault causing harm to Michal Skotak (32) at Racecourse Lawn on May 16th.

Inspector Derek Smart told Tralee District Court today the assault charge had been withdrawn and replaced by a charge of murder on the direction of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Detective Sergeant Fearghal Patwell gave evidence of arresting Mr Kurowski at Old Gallows Field yesterday and of charging him at Tralee Garda Station.

Judge James O’Connor granted an application for legal aid application and remanded Mr Kurowski in custody.
