A man has been charged with the murder of Romanian teenager Marioara Rostas.
Alan Wilson (33), with an address in New Street Gardens, Dublin 8, appeared before a special sitting of the Dublin District Court tonight in connection with Ms Rostas's murder.
The 18-year-old's body was discovered in a shallow grave in a mountainous area at Kippure, Co Wicklow, in January.
Detective Inspector Michael Cryan told the court tonight that Mr Wilson was arrested in west Dublin earlier this afternoon. Detective Cryan said that in reply to the charge Mr Wilson replied: "I didn't do this".
Solicitor Mr Donough Molloy told the court that no application could be made in relation to bail for Mr Wilson.
Mr Wilson did not address the court during brief hearing.
Judge Patrick Clyne granted an application for legal aid and remanded Mr Wilson in custody to appear before Cloverhill District Court next Thursday.
Ms Rostas disappeared while begging on Lombard Street East in Dublin on January 6th, 2008.
A postmortem confirmed that Ms Rostas – last seen alive on January 6th, 2008 – died as a result of a gunshot wound.
