A man appeared in court yesterday charged with the murder of his 71-year-old father last Monday.
Mr Anthony McAuliffe (42), of Rosevale Court, Brookwood Avenue, Artane, Dublin, was charged with murdering Mr John McAuliffe, whose body was found with stab wounds outside his flat at Rosevale Court.
Mr McAuliffe's solicitor, Mr Murrough O'Rourke, asked that his client undergo psychiatric assessment while in custody.
Judge William Early recommended assessment and remanded him in custody to appear in Cloverhill District Court tomorrow.
